The fact that Techno Violet and/or Daytona Violet are not staples in the M-color catalog is a crime.

Agreed. It’s the best purple. An M2 Compet ition in that glorious color? With saddle brown interior..? That would be very hard to resist....

Before I bought my GT350, I very seriously considered an M2 (I kept going back-and-forth for a while) . If it had been available in Techno Violet, I’m pretty sure I would have picked it instead. If a Cinnamon, Saddle Brown, or Imola interior had also been offered, I would have been beating down the door of the dealer to order one.

If you can’t have techno Violet, please enjoy techno Viking.

Does BMW not have the option to spec a custom color like Porsche when ordering an M car?

They do, but it depends on where the vehicle is manufactured. The M2 is manufactured in BMW’s Leipzig plant, which is not currently set up to support the “BMW Individual” program.

Would it really replace the miata though? I could see the value in it being in addition to the miata, but replacing means that it has to serve the exact same role without missing anything. While I would gladly own other cars, I really can’t forsee replacing a Miata with anything other than a Miata. Just something about the way those cars handle and put a dumb smile on my face, makes it not repeatable. Ive lived too long with just my STi and its only been a few months. Now that I have a Miata again, I just want to drive everywhere and its completely stock still. And doing all of that top down is a cherry on top.
